Happy Father's Day! Well it has been a busy week. We went and saw the Pediatrician on Tuesday. Vann weighed 11 lbs. 11 oz. and the doc said he was equivalent to a 4 month old, which is great because his corrected age isn't even 3 months yet.
The doc said we could try rice cereal with him in the next couple of weeks also. Vann has been refusing a bottle this week, but has been eating great from mommy, so the nurse thinks that the little guy is probably teething. Holy cow!
Thursday, we went and saw the Neurosurgeon. His ventricles are stable again, no change. Everything looked great. The Neurosurgeon is amazed that Vann was born at 25 weeks because he is so alert and doing so well, which made us feel good. He said the big obstacle we will have to overcome is when Vann's head really starts to grow and the stint that was placed gets pushed out of the aqueduct canal. At this point some babies still develop hydrocephalus, so he will be keeping a close eye on that. He will probably do another MRI when Vann is 9 months so he can see exactly where the stint is. The doc said we can take a deep breath and relax once Vann is about 1...that is when we should be in the clear.
Vann's favorite new thing is to grab both of his feet at the same time and roll to the side , it is so cute! I will continue to keep you all updated!
